dc.description.abstractCurrently telecom towers are using Diesel Generators (DG) as source of supply, which is rather expensive and emits environmental pollutants. This paper analyses the solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery, DG based hybrid system to supply seamless power to remotely located telecom BTS stations in standalone mode and grid connected mode. Also this paper aims to decrease DG working hours to reduce carbon emission and running cost of the system. In the conventional hybrid power supply system, Lead-acid batteries are used as an energy storage system, which has short life span and it requires frequent replacements. Conventional lead acid battery can be replaced by Li-Ion battery which overcomes the disadvantages of above mentioned. This paper gives brief comparative study of different Li-Ion batteries in terms of their performance and cycle life. Also, this paper deals with economic analysis of the optimally sized hybrid system. The hybrid systems discussed in this paper are also simulated in HOMER software to validate the results and theoretical analysis. Methodology carried out in this paper is time horizon based and solar insolation level considered in the paper is of Bangalore city in India (latitude: 12.9716� N, longitude: 77.5946� E). � 2017 IEEE.en_US
