Unlike terrestrial networks, deployed sensor nodes in underwater networks can move due to ship movement, water current, etc. This movement of nodes in underwater networks causes a severe effect in the routing of data to the offshore destinations. Hence, nodes movement is one of the essential factors in designing a context-aware routing for underwater networks. This paper proposes a mathematical model to study the node movement in underwater networks due to the ship movements. Additionally, the proposed model is demonstrated through its implementation in UnetStack3. © 2020 IEEE.en_US
